Membership

The Association is an excellent place to support the objectives of the Conservative Party in a practical way, to meet people and make friends and contacts.

Following the reforms approved by the Party in 1998, the Conservative Party is now the most democratic political party in the UK. Every member has a say on policy and in choosing our leader. Subscriptions from members and fund-raising activities are used to support this and other constituencies, campaigns and the Party at national level.

If you become a member of the Association you will receive the UACUA Programme of Social and Political events which are organised throughout the year. These feature regular dinners and informal suppers with political speakers; talks on a wide range of political and general topics. Recent speakers have included - The Rt. Hon. Michael Portillo, The Rt. Hon. Peter Lilley MP, David McLetchie MSP, David Davidson MSP, Alex Johnstone MSP and Nanette Milne MSP to name but a small selection.

Being a member of the University of Aberdeen Conservative & Unionist Association means that you have joined the most open and democratic political party in Britain . After the first three months of your membership, you will be entitled to a vote in Party ballots.  You will also have a chance to influence Party policy by letting us know your views and you will also receive a free copy of our regular membership magazine, Blue Granite.

Any person living in the United Kingdom is eligible to join the Conservative Party. Applicants are not required to be registered voters or UK nationals.

We must capitalise on this current resurgence, and strive for a stronger and co-ordinated membership.
